With all the hype that's been going on suggesting that we (in the UK) are going to experience “the perfect storm” for the cold white fluffy stuff! I thought it would be interesting if people posted their weather conditions if and when they do get snow, how much and their location etc. We can then judge how good these long range forecasts actually are..... a bit of fun while we are trapped in our homes

well, I am currently around 1C at the moment, it's been hovering around there all day. It did make a leap to a tropical(!) 2.5C at one point for a short while.

Snow today too.

Nearly down to 1C here too but it did reach 6C this afternoon and we even saw the sun now and again. Rain this morning. No white stuff yet.

My Temp went down to -1.4 this morning. At the moment it is full sunshine and clear sky with some small clouds coming over.

Much the same here in East Devon up in The Blackdown Hills. My lowest temperature was -1.6C but I haven't been able to calibrate it to tenths of a degree. Sometime I mean to buy a more accurate thermometer than my present mercury one. Does anyone know where I might buy something that's more accurate than the nearest degree C?

Nothing dramatic in West Wales as yet. Wind chill pulling the temp down from 3.0C and about 20mm of snow on the top of my Stevenson Screen.

Hi Geoff,

Did it start as rain then sleet then snow and is it settling?

A real photography shop? You could buy good thermometers back in the days when processing solutions had to held to strict temperatures. I still have a Paterson certified mercury graduated to 0.2°C, but the lowest mark is 13°

Ah yes, of course. I used to have one when photography was chemical. To think of the hours I spent in a hot darkroom just to produce a handful of prints

Getting colder, -7.4C at 06:00 this morning in north Cheshire. But clear skies and no signs of snow this side of the Pennines.
I've admitted defeat to the family and switched the central heating on to timer today

What luxury  We only got down to -3.5C here, I said I would turn on the heating when frost forms on the windows (when I was a child the windows would often have jack frost on the inside :( )

Put some more clothes on! Think of the planet!

Our chooks aren't happy with the snow and the wind chill, they don't want to come out today.

Just horribly cold sleety rain here in West Wales, though much snow to our east!
