Watson 8681 and a lack of clear instruction!

Post by Brewbie »

Hi Folks.
This is the first post for me on here so please be genital.
First, I’ve received this Watson W-8681 for Christmas and set it up the best I can and it is working but it’s only updating from the transmitter every 48 Sec and the destructions for thing say this can be speeded up(to what I have no idea). Now I’ve tried the way they say (pressing the reset button on the solar charger thingy and I’m not getting any where fast.
So
1. Can anyone tell me what you can speed up?
2. What duration can you speed up to?
3. How the hell you do it

On a lighter note the Cumulus software seems really good and easy compared to Easy Weather and Weather Display :? (which I’ve just deleted off my PC  ) very good!

Any help gratefully received.

There's no way that I'm aware of to change the 48 second transmission period.

W-8681-ST1
“ If you want to shorten the receiving data time, you can press the reset button on the solar power cabinet to re-send the signal. You have to reinstall the batteries of the base station as well to re-transmit the signal. Please wait 10 seconds before re-inserting the batteries to properly reset the transmitter and receiver”.

So I did and it didn’t.

I think that's talking about the time taken for the transmitter and receiver to get back in sync after they have lost contact.

I saw it, but assumed it was a deliberate malapropism, like "destructions".
