Hi, using the latest version of Cumulus Beta and have a La Crosse WS2350 which I have set to 5 minute data log intervals. These intervals have started to occur at 00:04, 00:09, 00:14, 00:19, 0024 etc hours rather than 00:00, 00:05, 00:10, 00:15, 00:20, 00:25 etc.

Now, although this isn't a problem the OCD in me wants to correct this! ;)

Any thoughts?

I know the data logging interval is controlled through (whisper it) Heavy Weather, but I'm sure I read somewhere that Cumulus rounds this to 00:00, 00:05 etc.

Regards
Andy.

While Cumulus is running, and hence in control of its own logging time, entries are logged when the number of minutes past the hour is a multiple of the logging interval (e.g. 00:00, 00:05 etc, as you suggest).

When it downloads data from the La Crosse logger when it starts up, the station tells it the timestamp of the latest entry, and the interval for each entry. So it works backwards calculating the actual timestamps for each entry. It doesn't do any rounding, it just uses the times that the station gives it. You should be able to see the times logged in the diags file.

So I'm guessing that the entries you're referring to came from the logger.

Yes, quite right! On closer examination of the Jan11log.txt file I can see when I started Cumulus and these times are on the hour etc.

i.e
17/01/11,16:29,6.1,94,5.7,0.0,0.0,0,0.0,19.2,1014.5,1473.7,18.9,56,0.0,6.1,6.1,0.0,0,0.00,0.00,5.0,0,0.0
17/01/11,16:34,6.1,94,5.7,0.0,0.0,0,0.0,19.2,1014.5,1473.7,18.9,56,0.0,6.1,6.1,0.0,0,0.00,0.00,5.0,0,0.0
17/01/11,16:40,6.1,94,5.2,0.0,0.0,0,0.0,19.2,1014.8,1473.7,19.2,56,0.0,6.1,6.1,0.0,0,0.00,0.00,5.0,0,0.0
17/01/11,16:45,6.1,94,5.2,0.0,0.0,0,0.0,19.2,1014.8,1473.7,19.4,55,0.0,6.1,6.1,0.0,0,0.00,0.00,5.0,0,0.0

Therefore, do I assume it is some messing around in Heavy Weather that I need to do to get the data logger working on the hour?

It's possible that you can get the logger to log on the hour (etc) somehow. I don't really know whether it's designed so that you're able to do that or not. If you download the logger data with HeavyWeather, do the timestamps always come out on the hour?

Thank you for your help and sorry for the delay in replying. I think the only way to change the settings when Cumulus is not running is to use HeavyWeather, which is a shame as I had hoped never to need this again. I'll work on a way around this though!!
