Hello
I have just bougt a WS2350, and yesterday I got it to work trough USB. Fine.
Still a bit worried when reading about ws2350 and USB problems, wrong values, etc.
Anyone using this station connected to a serial(COM) port?
Is it stable?
For now I have some problems whith my serial port, can not get it to work.
Computer problem, not to do whith station.
So I have not been able to try.

Re: WS2350 - OK if com port ?
Most (all?) people using a serial/USB adapter have problems. Most people using a serial port do not - but some still do. I don't have a La Crosse station, so I've had to do the best I can to support it in Cumulus. I've read enough about La Crosse stations to think that where people do have problems even with a serial port, it's down to the station (RFI etc) rather than Cumulus.

Master 120
Welcome to the forum
As Steve says there are many problems with most USB/Serial connections and La Crosse units
Its been nearly a week now and (touch wood) have not had a bad reading, so YES is the answer
Also another tip Ive learnt from this forum (sorry I can't remember who), is to place the console as far as possible from other Electrical devices esp Monitor and Tower as this reduces the number of drop outs... again I have gone three days without a drop out since doing this.
Cheers
Brian

Re: WS2350 - OK if com port ?
I started using Cumulus 4th Jan 2010 with my WS2350 station. Only use the serial port on my Compaq Evo410c laptop.
So far so good, all data accurate to best of my knowledge.

Re: WS2350 - OK if com port ?
My com port was disabled in the setup.
I enabled it and now using COM, seems fine so far.
Thanks

Re: WS2350 - OK if com port ?
I've been using my WS2355 with direct serial connection for almost a year now without any "weird" values.
I was getting them almost daily with the usb converter.

Re: WS2350 - OK if com port ?
A little tip for others:
My WS2350 was very susceptable to "losing" the RF connection to the remote sensors. Since switching the PC to wired connection, and disabling (removing the card) the Wi-Fi, I get very few drop-outs.
Jim.

Re: WS2350 - OK if com port ?
I have a WS-2315 that was connected to a serial port on a laptop until the laptop died. Its now connected via a Belkin usb to serial adapter on a new PC that has no serial port. I've had no issues apart from the known spurious readings that lacrosse stations are known to discover.
