Hi all. First up thank you Steve for this software!
So in the process of setting up Windows 7 (new laptop), VP2, weatherlink & Cumulus I managed to have a few minute time difference between the computer and VP2 console. I will manually synchronize for now. I also changed Windows 7 to update its time mid day rather than its default. What is the best way to keep the time synchronized?

You could try the 'Synchronise Davis clock to PC' setting in Cumulus; but note that it only works to the nearest minute (rounded down) and Cumulus only sets the clock when it starts up.

You could also use the free VPLive software from SoftWx - it is a match made in SoftWx heaven... :D

If you want software to sync your PC to accurate time then do a web search for 'dimension4'

Best of all it's free and runs in the background... does checks as often as you like...

I use VPLive but it means you need VirtualVP to feed more than one weather program. VirtualVP is free for 30 days after which it requires registration.

But with VirtualVP you can run up to 4 weather programs which allows you to assess each and decide which is best for you.

Ray, if I may, a little correction... VirtualVP has four (4) serial COM ports as well as four (4) TCP/IP ports, thus allowing communications (theoretically) to eight (8) weather related programs/software - the most I have used were six (6) of the eight (8) ports...

Point accepted Ray although I have yet to try to connect via TCP/IP.

Cumulus has been tested using either a virtual COM port or a virtual TCP/IP port... ;)

New here and just getting fimiliar with Cumulus. I've done what Steve recommends with the time work around but where in WIN 7 is the option to change which time it updates the time? I have turned off the internet time checker.

It's well hidden :bash:

Go to Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Task Scheduler

Open up the tree in the left hand pane and navigate to Task Scheduler Library -> Microsoft -> Windows -> Time Synchronization and click on it.

In the right hand pane click on Properties, and select the Triggers tab. Click edit, and change the settings. Close all the windows, clicking OK where appropriate. Have a large drink and a lie down.

Got it, done it, yep - well hidden, thank you. Out of interest, how does it synchronize the time? Is it by using the internet time method as I have actually disabled that in case that caused a problem too.

Yes, that's right. So I think changing the time has no effect if you have internet time sync disabled.
