I have got a La crosse 2800. The rain sensor have the battery in the bottom and the water from the rain has drain in the bottom.
Does anybody have an idea to place the rainsensor so it can work without to be destroyed?
I think someone must have solved this problem.

The buttom of the sonsor have an dark grey disk where the batteries is placed under.

As you can see there is also drain from the sensor.

The Rain sensor have two holes without threads in the buttom.

The hompage where the set is shown is La Crosse

Sorry for ask, but you could upload pics with more resolution?

I cannot disclose the "dark grey disk" that you describe.

BTW, very interesting, the rain gauge is transparent...I never seen this before..

My fear was that the cavity under the batteries and the ground should be filled up in powerful rain.
I have now placed the rain sensor on a board there is smaller than the sensor to increase the drain.

You should read this manual:

Citizen Weather Observer Program (CWOP)
Weather Station Siting, Performance, and Data Quality Guide
