Hi Steve,

I hope I've posted this request in the right place.

For those of us who have been running Cumulus for a few years it would be useful to see the records for the current month. With an expected heatwave due to reach the UK in the next 24 hours being able to see the existing records for September would be really useful.

I appreciate it's a big job to add tags for several pieces of information for all 12 months and if it's not something you feel you could do I understand. But if it is doable could you please consider it.

I would like the following to be viewable for the current month since records began:-

Max Temp with date
Min Temp with date
Max Pressure with date
Min Pressure with date
High Daily Rainfall with date
High Wind Gust with date

Thanks.

You've already asked for this, some time ago, and you posted in the right place last time ;)

http://sandaysoft.com/forum/tracker.php?p=1&t=3

It is something I hope to add at some point; I agree it would be a very useful addition.

 You'll have to forgive me Steve. It was 18 months ago and my memory isn't what it used to be.

Nice to know it's something you agree with. :D

HI Ray,

Here are a few choices through this forum they may help.
Not exactly what you want but something to play with.

1) David's Data Summary:
viewtopic.php?f=18&t=4788
Instructions here:
http://wiki.sandaysoft.com/a/AnnualDataSummary
Demo here:
http://www.grantownweather.co.uk/histor ... ummary.php

2) The Noaa Reports which Steve released in version 1.9.2.
Beteljuice enhanced on:
viewtopic.php?f=14&t=5754&hilit=noaa+reports

3) Make you own pages as some do:
http://wairoa.net/weather/records/2011aug.htm
The two above are quicker to flick through but a full month summary is a better record for readers or researchers.
Hope this gives you some ideas.

Cheers
Jenny

Hi Jenny,

Wow! I didn't think such things were possible without advanced programming techniques or a SQL database. Thanks for taking the time to link to the available solutions.

I still feel it would be worth Steve creating a solution in Cumulus for all those who are useless with HTML etc. but in the meantime I'll have a read through the Wiki instructions on creating a summary page as shown in your first link.

Flippin' 'eck! :o I've just amazed myself. Following David's excellent instructions I've managed to get the php version running. It really was very easy but of course I didn't have to write the php!

Thanks Jenny and David for what is a worthy compliment to Cumulus.

Pleased it all worked for you :)

Now you can add to that:

viewtopic.php?f=18&t=4843&hilit=datasummary

I struggled as you will read but got there thanks to Ray and Beteljuice.
I had wanted to ad more labels.
Here is what I have now:

Cheers
Jenny

While those are indeed excellent add-ons, if they represent what you were asking for I must have misunderstood the request. I thought you wanted to display (for example) your all-time highest September temperature?

No you didn't misunderstand my request Steve but this will act as a stop-gap until you have the time for that enhancement. I can now find out the extremes for a given month by viewing each year's data but my original request still stands.

Hi Jenny,

Your site looks very polished, well done. I don't need any additional values to monitor but I would like to colour-code the temperatures so the hot and cold days would jump out at you.

I vaguely remember seeing one website with this but can't remember where. It's should be doable but could you or anyone else give me a prod in the right direction please?

As a starter I would like all temps => 27C to have a red background and white text. Any temps < 0C should appear blue with white text. As for the remainder I'll come up with a suitable colour system. Hopefully it won't be too gaudy!

Thanks Ray. That's exactly what I was looking for. I hope to make the pages available via menu options in the next few days.

Here we are at the end of September with quite remarkable temperatures across England and Wales. It hit 28.2C today here. But sadly this will not feature on either 2011 or all-time records as things stand.

So I hope Steve you will be able to add the monthly records page to Cumulus in the not too distant future. After all, it was requested 18 months ago and quite a few people have jumped the queue! ;)

Ray, just to be the 'devil's advocate'...

For your station this '28.2C' was not a record high - the 'real' record high recorded by your station was '30.4°C' on July 2009

And if one of your web pages was displaying the monthly records, well all those monthly records would be gone by now (your time) as a new month has started and the September records would have been replaced by October records ... returned to zero...

So, to be able to really use the past monthly records, a new file would have to be created - I do hope this is what you have requested...

I looked at the 'Cumulus - Feature tracker' page but could not find any specifics for any of the 164 still opened tickets... Probably not looking at the right place...

Hi Ray (old Nick! ),

You're correct that my all-time record would not be broken by recent temps but given the exceptional temperatures for late September I wanted a way of Cumulus recording it. Hence a set of records for each of the 12 months.

I am hoping a set of monthly records would be viewable all year round, not just in the current month. So, for example, if I wanted to view my station's all-time records for October those would be available to me this morning.

Yes, this would require a new set of files which is a substantial piece of work for Steve and why I suspect it's taking a while for him to consider how best to plan it. Steve posted a link to my suggestion at the start of this thread. Does that help?
