about the lights to be on always:
been testing and also made the mod.
when you connect a switch to the yellow dots,you can turn them on.
at these points they burn not at full power,but enough for constant lightning,they give a nice gentle green glow.

small edit.
i also marked the points if you want the leds go at full power(red dots,left red and left yellow are the same point)

just editted the picture for full power.
glad it works out for others too.

i also found the station with it's original standards lying to flat.
so i use one of these standards(used for plates),gives a much better view.

I might try this at the weekend, just a shame I can not replace the led's with blue ones. Been looking for them just can not find them.

if in the uk try maplins or rs components for the leds http://www.maplin.co.uk/module.aspx?moduleno=2083 there is more versions not looked as to what type but its a starter.

as for the back light if you use a miniture slide switch it fits very neat above the wall mounting screw recess and could be wired to full or half light. yes you need to cut a hole in the case but it is not in the road of anything else.

my first station is the Watson W-8682 (http://www.airbandonline.co.uk/watson_w8682.htm)
they are working next to each other.
this one is almost the same,without usb and wind direction.
it works here on 868mhz.
they don,t have interference with each other.
i guess that each station uses some sort of own channel.
so probably if you got another lcd (=station) you should change it's channel to your first transmitter on the receiver module
(the one with the red wire on it)
to see if that is possible the values of the parts should be compared with a few other stations,(resistor,condensator,cristal),if they are different

Then again, we could always use an LDR on the front/top of the logger by itself or in combo with a 3-way switch (on/off/ldr).

I have only just got around to buying one of these plate stands - well actually four sizes for a pound made from plastic. The larger size gave a much better viewing angle, but due to the two halves of the stand being hinged together it was all a bit unstable. So I detached the two at the hinge, cut a short length of 15mm copper tube and bolted the two back together with some threaded rod, using the tube as a distance spacer. It is now very stable.

Hello all

Sorry for my English Language.

My first post with my WS. This is not WS1080 but maybe you can change LED in yours.

I have couple of WS. Last modified are WS2357. See attach. Before are green, after White. You see diferences ?

I change led from green to white and inserted two diode. One for iluminating all the time and second for iluminating from bateries. You need one power supply ( if you don`t have ) ~ 5V -.

I have another three little WS where I change LED.
