Toolbox Problems

Postby geoffp » Tue Jan 31, 2012 3:09 pm

I have tried installing and setting up Cumulus Toobox, on another P.C since doing so I keep getting up a warning message:-

Microsoft .net Framework

Unhandled exception

Argument 'Date1' cannot be converted to type 'Date'

I have got Microsoft .net4 installed so no idea what this is again

Geoff

Looking through the forums, there appears to be quite a few people having problems with toolbox and nearly all report a MS .net framework problem.

I installed MS .net 4 this week and then installed tool box but every time it tries to ftp dayfile, do a back up or anything else it reports a MS .net framework error and closes. Dissapointing as I know quite a few use it with success.

Not all versions of the .Net frame provide backward compatibly, some apps need the specific version they were compiled against.

On the PC I run ToolBox I have .Net versions 1.1, 2.0 SP2, 3.0 SP2, and 3.5 SP1 installed.

I'd try installing 3.5 SP1 as a first step.

I didn't know that Mark. However I have just DL'ed from MS 3.5 SP1 and the installer will not run on my win7 64 even in compatibility mode.

Here's what toolbox gives me:

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.

For example:

<configuration>
<system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.

Ah, you don't 'install' 3.5.1 on Windows 7, it is already installed, but needs to be enabled (if it isn't already).

Go to "Programs & Features" and select "Turn Windows Features On or Off", you should find .Net framework 3.5.1 in there.

Tried that Mark but with the same results. However, yesterday, I noticed in the Win7 updates list there was one for .net4 and Win7 so I let it do these and .........success. I have now run several auto and manual back ups and outo ftp'd dayfile all with success.

Now my annual summary doesn't need me to keep it up to date :D .
