For your information, Clas Ohlson are offering a fine offset variant at a good price (£59.99) until the end of this year:
http://www.clasohlson.co.uk/Product/Pro ... =167399209

What is also interesting, is that they also offer spares at a reasonable price - Well done Clas Ohlson.

I am in the market for a new thermo / hygro module as my humidity is reading high - must enquire to check what frequency they transmit at!

Hi,

Only £49.99 last year, or £39.99 if you happened to get a discount voucher! And it's the 1080 model with Radio Controlled Clock :)

AFAIK the Clas Ohlson versions all operate at 868 MHz, it's marked on the battery cover and in the User Manual. So not compatible with the Maplin offerings.

Cheers, Alan.

Seems very good value!
As regards the spares I have used
http://www.wsplc.com/acatalog/Weather_S ... ories.html
and always found them to be helpful and very reasonably priced!
They helped me out with a new rain guage last year
Regards
Milton

Wow, so late to the game here!

I looked in Clas Ohlsen before Christmas and they had the fine offset with radio clock for £39.99 but given tight economy in Ash towers at the time I passed it up.

I later discovered they sold spares, and since the 5th of November, the anemometer on my existing unit had a cup missing (darn neighbour's fireworks!) plus my rain gauge was a bit iffy so I looked into buying replacements.

Since each replacement part came to £16, I figured I might as well buy the whole thing (only £14 more than the two spares for the whole kit), and was really pleased to find it's running on 868MHz as my existing Maplin branded unit works on 433, meaning that I can now put a second unit (without rain gauge, anemometer or wind direction unit) in my greenhouse and have that connected to Cumulus on the PC in my Kitchen without fear of one interfering with 'tother.

Hats off to Clas Ohlsen, good value indeed.

Hi,

The disadvantage with Clas Ohlson is that they have only about 12 stores in the UK and no internet store ...... UNTIL NOW!

They have just started selling online (in the UK) and are offering 20% off and Free Shipping until 8th July.

That makes their FO logging station £39.99! Previously it has been their own branded WH1080 (868MHz and Radio Controlled Clock) with a superior User Manual, and it appears to have a 2 year warranty, but that isn't all obvious from the current specification/listing.

See here.

Cheers, Alan.

Is there any chance that these stations will exhibit the lockups that more recent FO stations experience? I'd buy one if it would help me investigate that. I think it's unlikely I'd be able to come up with a work around in software, but it's probably worth a try. I'm getting fed up with the number of times I have to tell someone to reset their station.

They most certainly do, I bought one last week for £39.99. It locked up today. PC reboot didn't fix it and I ended up taking out the batteries. Its alive again now. I assume the data lost during the lockup was held in volatile memory and is now gone never to return? What do I expect for a £40 unit :)

If there is anything I can help with regarding running a debug version of the code/etc let me know.

Forgot to say, when I installed Cumulus I didn't install the USB driver from the bundled software (if there is one) - I let Windows find the hardware and search for the driver automatically.

Since its the receiver end that seems to be the issue I assume this is irrelevant. Thought I'd mention it though.

I can't think of anything I could put in a debug version. The problem seems to be at a lower level than the interface Cumulus uses, and happens even with Easyweather, so I don't think I stand any chance of doing anything about it.

No problem, I somehow missed the big unmissable sticky before posting here :) It was clear from that thread it seems to be a receiver side issue. With Easyweather lockups and lack of recovery on PC reboot I can't see what else it could be.

If I ever uncover anything interesting I'll report back to the sticky.

I just bought a Clas Ohlson setup, just before the cutoff date of the discount. I bought it mainly for two reasons, one so I could have a second receiver in my shed with all my computers and secondly as a source of spare parts for the transmitters etc.

I have a spare Maplin N96GY receiver (433.9Mhz) as I now have two 868Mhz units. My original Maplin N96GY transmitter died about one year ago after about 18 months of use and when I bought the new transmitter I didn't realise that they were on different frequencies and it took a bit of head scratching to work out what was wrong :bash:

So if anyone out there is in need of a 433.9Mhz receiver unit contact me via e-mail and make me an offer.

My e-mail is andy@teamchaos.co.uk

Andy

I've just noticed that this offer has been extended to the 22nd July.
