Not cheap, but a lot cheaper than the Orion and - especially - the SBIG all sky.

Hi everybody

I've been looking at making a Sky cam The commercial ones are very expensive

However I have come up with a compromise

I have used a cheap Security camera They can be found on eBay in the region of £29 .00

And a garden stainless steel Ball Approximately £6 .00

And some junk items lying around my garage Plastic tubing, plastic box, Nuts and bolts

In the video and image may seem slightly foggy this is due to heavy rain And blends becoming slightly misty to overcome this problem I need to add a Small resistor To help to keep the lens clear

Once I have completed this next stage of the project I will put together a PDF file in more detail how to put this project together, This type of camera is No good for Night viewing As the camera lux does Not go Lower enough

But is excellent for daytime recording Of clouds etc,

Hi everybody

I've come up with another simple way to make a sky cam, Unfortunately While I am working on this project
the images from the first project will not be uploading to my webpage this is temporary

I need to test the new camera and I need to do a mod to it I am waiting for a component to arrive in the next few days
New camera will have a fish eye view,This will Do away with stainless steel mirror

The first project is a real good compromise,

I'm waiting on my .003 lux color board camera and 1.27mm fish-eye lens to come in. That; with a glass dome, a heater coil and an old PC fan and I'm set for 180 degree sky view with a heater and evaporator.

Less than $125US all told. the software will double me up, but I come in under 1/2 the Moonglow; sans the software.

This is a no brainer DIY project.

WOW! That's a cool 360 degrees all sky camera! Yes, it isn't cheap at all, but it looks like that all sky camera is worth the money!
