1st anniversary of my WH-1081. How did it perform?
On 2011-07-23 I received my WS. Installed it, and started the system.
One year later, until this morning:
- Not one restart needed.
- Still the same batteries
- All sensors are working OK
- Accurate readings, as far as I can tell.
- Wind sensor: no verdict. I works, but my location is far from optimal.
I decided to change the sensor batteries now. The battery contacts were as new, no rust.
System restart went OK.
Only wish: a better housing for the temperature sensor. I still need to build a kind of Stevenson screen.

It's always good to hear success stories; with the problems some people seem to have with Fine Offset stations, it would be easy to write them off as a waste of time and money.

The earlier 1080/1081 seems to perform better than the later models.

Mine is now 2.5 years old and still going strong.
Problems so far:
Problems so far:
- A temperature sensor failure after about 10 months, had it replaced
- The pressure reading went bonkers, after one power down the absolute pressure reading took on a 100+ hPa offset. Apply the appropriate correction on teh base unit and Cumulus means it still reads the relative pressure very accurately compared to Rays Davis unit up the road.

I would agree given the price/performance I still regard these units as excellent value for money

Re: 1st anniversary of my WH-1081. How did it perform?
My WH1090 went 14 months no trouble but the following 2 years it has gone down hill losing contact regularly and it eats batteries for breakfast they last about 6/8 weeks I have tried it on the mains and it is no better I have now had enough the wife said no more bad language when it goes t#ts up, so I am sending for a TFA Primus having read some good reports on them,so when I receive it in 2/3 weeks if anyone wants some spares free the wind/water /console I believe are OK I think it is the temperature sender unit that is faulty these will be collection only in the Bradford W/Yorkshire area.Alan

My 1081 has been running since July 2008. Only problems have been bad USB soldering and frozen bearings on wind instruments.
Batteries are changed yearly in the transmitter, regardless.
I fully expect the plastic outside to become brittle and just fall apart one day.

I have my WH1080 up and running, one year this month as well. Every thing working, no problems at all

My WH-1091 Has been going since August 2009.....no real trouble......only 1 of the 3 cups of my anemomoter busted
off.....when a cow decided to see what it might taste like .....glued it back on.... that was 1 or 2 years ago.... still
spinning fine.

My Ambient Weather WS-2080, has been going since Oct 2010, had some minor "sensor lost" in the begining,
but ever since has been running great.
Still on my 1st set of batteries ! The specs say they should last about 2 yrs, and am happy they have lasted this long!
Data quality as measured by CWOP is overall 99%

Re: 1st anniversary of my WH-1081. How did it perform?
I bought the Maplins badged N96FY in February 2011 when it was on offer at half price, about £65 from memory. In that time I have changed the batteries once as it was losing contact occasionally and replaced the anemometer about 3 months ago at a cost of £13. I have a friend with a Davies Vantage Pro who has spent enough on replacement parts to buy 3 full price N96FY's. Sure it could probably do with an improved Stevenson screen but I consider it an excellent low cost introduction to personal weather stations.
