Just bumping this back up - I'm about to start creating a single record file to feed my homemade station information to Cumulus.

Is the "fields actually used in red" post a few posts back in this thread still correct? I can calculate dew point and windchill, but somehow totalling "rain this year" is giving me heartburn... and I suppose rain last hour is a bit of work too (counter that resets on the hour, or is it a sliding window?)

As far as I know, yes. But note that Cumulus doesn't necessarily use the fields for the same purpose as Easyweather...

All the 'rain this year' figure needs to be is an incrementing total counter; and 'rain last hour' is just used as the rate.

Hello All,

I am not understanding what to do with these two text files. I understand i need to modify the Path to what i have, but I do not know what to do with these files?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Thanks,
This thread is discussing using an old interface originally intended for Fine Offset stations to get data into Cumulus from home designed stations. You gather the data from your station and put it in the correct format in a file called easyweather.dat. You then point Cumulus to the file wherever you put it, and update the contents of that easyweather.dat file regularly with information from your station.

I've re-read the thread a few times and don't know how you got an impression of two files.

The biggest limitation of this method is that you only get the latest information into Cumulus. If you stop Cumulus for any reason, you get a gap in the data. This is not the case for any other interface, and is the main reason it is not recommended, I believe.

I hate to revive a old topic. but...
I have a ws-2813u-it and trying to get cumulus working.
I have everything installed and the file output is sort of working but its only outputting the template file and no data?
Am i doing something wrong?

thanks

Paul, he's not trying to use the station directly with Cumulus, he's trying to get WUHU to generate a file that Cumulus can read.

Hi,

I have also the problem that cumulus will not read the easyweather.dat file created by WUHU.

Wuhu reads Heavyweather data and create every minute the easyweather.dat file and put this in the data map of cumulus.
Configuration cumulus look to the easyweather.dat file in de data map but no data.

On my old PC it works fine with the same configuration.

If you zip up the diags folder and attach it, along with an example of your easyweather.dat file, I'll take a look.

Hi All,

I am extracting data from my weather logger software program that I have created using VB6 and i am outputting data to an Easyweather.dat file as a means of inputting the data every minute into Cumulus. All is working brilliantly excepting for the rainfall input and the resulting display in Cumulus.

Rainfall in hour appears as a rate in cumulus (as Steve has indicated in his Easyweather Field definitions which is posted above... thanks Steve) but I am not sure what is supposed to be inputted into Field #27 which is treated as a "counter"?

Can anyone help in defining this? Are the units in mm and is it a cumulative count or is it say the last 24 hours count in mm? Conversely, is it simply a count of the bucket tips on a cumulative basis for which a calibration should be provided somewhere?

Any help here would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Keith

The rain counter can just be an ever-increasing counter, and it needs to be in millimetres. The longer you go before resetting it to zero, the better.
