Ecowitt CO2 / particulate sensor not displaying after Version 6.15.5

Post by Nossie »

Hi Hans,

I haven't made any recent changes, updating to the new version appears to have killed the particulate sensor showing on the website, was the code for that changed at all?
Ian.

No, code was not changed I think but apparently something has ;)
I'll check it out tomorrow.

Thanks, it does seem to still show the graph data from the dropdown, just not the data on the left handside.

thanks again.

errr just another issue

Code: Select all

So what unit does it have? % or nothing?

EDIT: I mean it runs from 0 - 15, where does it get 98? Is there a calculation to have the actual value as a percentage of the max value? And if so, is that calculation generic for all users or is it propriety?

Could you try the attached patch 1 and comment?

[EDIT:]And if you don't have normal values for your region, please set

Code: Select all

UseNormalTempReference=StationAverage    (default = Normal)
UseNormalRainReference=StationAverage    (default = Normal)
or use none (which remove the normal or station average lines).
If you have Normal values you can fill them in in the CMX settings under NOAA.

Thanks Hans,

CO2 is back but particulates are missing, remember the leafwetness sensor is an ecowitt, not Davis - for me and on the display it shows as a % and I'm sure it used to do the same on cumulusutils

https://shop.ecowitt.com/products/wn35 the device display is also a percentage, although admittedly the sensor is not quite as useful as I was hoping it to be (but that's a different story)
UseNormalTempReference=StationAverage (default = Normal)
UseNormalRainReference=StationAverage (default = Normal)
or use none (which remove the normal or station average lines).
Not quite sure what you mean by the above, sorry. :groan:

EDIT: Leafwetness in the charts is showing as in ppm, not degrees or percentage - is it doing something similar to before where it's pushing/pulling values to the next row?

OK. So they are very different, not sure if I can easily distinguish. I'll check. If that becomes too complex, I'll leave the dimension out (as it is now).
[EDIT:]The same holds b.t.w. for the soilmoisture which for the Ecowitt is in % (when calibrated on max/min value) and for the Davis in centibar.

See above.

See the graphs Monthly Rain and Monthly Temperature. You see a flat black line at -1000. That is a useless line representing the normal values. See the wiki if necessary for Monthly Rain and Monthly Temperature.

No this is different and it is showing as dimensionless (which I regard as correct).
I just checked and the leaf wetness shows as dimensionless in the ExtraSensors charts. Which is correct. So I dont get your point.
And it is not pushing / pulling values to the next row so what are you seeing/looking at?

If you hover over the leafwetness value on the chart it shows the value with ppm

Code: Select all

UseNormalTempReference=StationAverage
UseNormalRainReference=StationAverage
Just to confirm - are you asking me to add those two lines here??

Patch2:
  • CO2 sensor should all be OK now
  • Dimensions of leaf wetness and soil moisture is not displayed because difference between Ecowitt&Davis. May come back to this later.
NOTE On the charts: ExtraSensors Leaf Wetness and Soil Moisture initially have a dimensionless y-axis and the user has to enter that text himself. You will find a parameter in the section Compiler in the language file like:

Code: Select all

ExtraSoilMoistureDimensionless=Dimensionless
for the title of the Free axis. Give it your own text and the chart will receive that text the next compilation (e.g. running with CompileOnly)

OK. Should be fixed in patch3 with no dimension at all, only value (for the same reason I mentioned before: difference between Davis/Ecowitt). The cause of ppm was elsewhere but should be corrected in patch3
Nossie wrote: Mon 30 Jan 2023 9:06 am Just to confirm - are you asking me to add those two lines here??
No,I am not asking to add those lines. I am advising to the usefulness of the charts: if you fill in the normal values you'll get a useful charts. If you don't have the normal values it is better to use the keyword StationAverage so you can easily compare your history with the statistics. You can also use the keyword both or put some gibberish in there which would show no line at all.

And this is an advise not a must. I put some work into this functionality and I note a lot of users simply ignoring this and keep the default flat line of -1000 for the normal values. Such a waste of something beautiful ;)

Sorry Hans, you may have misunderstood my statement/question.

I'm ALL for beautiful data - I'm also a data newbie, so I'm not fully aware of what I might be missing out on. So in that respect - ANY advice that you can offer is greatly appreciated (so thank you very much for that)

On the flip side however, you ask me to add two lines...
Is that to Cumulus.ini?
Is that to strings.ini ?
is that to CUstringsEN.ini?
is that to Cumulusutils.ini?

My data newb mind has assumed Cumulus.ini as it's not language related and it's not a requirement of utils.

So as I cannot find any mention of UseNormalTempReference or UseNormalRainReference to modify the value, I'm clutching at straws to arbitrarily add them.
Ian.
