Cumulus Support

Does anyone know if these loggers work with Cumulus 1? My Davis IP Data Logger is toast. I would like to get up and running with Cumulus 1 before being forced to upgrade to MX if possible. At least it seems like the WiFiLogger would get data to WeatherLink, WeatherUnderground and PWSWeather as I do now. Just my own website would suffer for now. Suggestions please? Thank you!

I have been using the WiFiLogger device for over 3 years and it is just like the WeatherlinkIP logger, except it is wireless so the console can be located wherever you want. I use it with a Vue console, and CumulusMX is able to connect to it via its IP address. The WiFiLogger can also sent to many weather services including Weatherlink.com, WU, CWOP, PWSweather, etc. To use it with the various weather services and Cumulus at the same time you need to set the Disconnect Period in the TCP/IP settings. I have not used it with Cumulus 1 but have no reason to believe it would not work the same.

I also have the Meteo Pi ethernet logger device but have not used it yet. As I understood it would work the same as the WiFiLogger but is ethernet-wired rather than WiFi wireless.

Either device will only allow one weather program like Cumulus or CumulusMX or WeatherlinkPC at the same time unless you had Virtual VP installed and working. Weatherlink Live is an alternative to console/logger and that works with CumulusMX and send data to Weatherlink.com and can be used with more than one program at the same time (but not Cumulus 1).

Why do you have hesitation on updating to CumulusMX?

Thanks for the reply! I haven't looked too deeply into the documentation on upgrading to CumulusMX, but what I've seen appears to be not kept up to date? I worry how many issues I might encounter, such as data differences, website template differences, whether some differences might force me to upgrade PHP, MySQL etc. Just seems like this could become a rather large process? If you think not and can point me to some good documentation on the process or have some recommendations for me, I'm all ears! I would love to get on MX that is actively being maintained and enhanced. Just not sure how much effort you think this might be. I've followed you and Mark C. for many years and appreciate any help. Thank you!

Sounds like the first thing is to get your logger issue resolved. When that is done then don't hesitate to post.

Thanks Paul! So the WifiLogger is working well now. Any suggestions on how to start switching over to MX? Do I just jump in with the latest release or something prior? Any up to date links on the process that could help? I do have my own customized web page templates...Can I stay with these easy enough or is it better to use some new templates? Thanks!

Go straight to the latest release.

Read this first. https://www.cumuluswiki.org/a/Migrating ... us_1_to_MX If you are using Windows as your primary operating system moving from Cumulus to CumulusMX is quite simple and that it what you should do keep it simple. Move all your data and Cumulus.ini to your new setup once you have download the latest version of CumulusMX to your computer and set it up in its directory. Follow the instructions carefully and remember there is NOT an installation file like Cumulus 1 that does this for you.

Once you have set this up follow these instructions https://www.cumuluswiki.org/a/First_Run_of_MX on how to use the Wizard to build the minimum requirements.

After that you will have a running MX. Then you can start investigating all the other features, but none of them are mandatory (i.e. MySQL, PHP etc.) to run MX it is your choice. You will not regret it.
