14 years of records!

Post by RayProudfoot »

At midnight yesterday my station comleted 14 years of continuous recording. I'm sure I'm not alone.

Using my database and Excel skills I've created a couple of charts showing rainfall records. Spring is the driest period here in Cheshire. And rainfall amounts have been remarkably consistent in the 2020-2022 period. All measurements are in inches.

My Samsung NC10 netbook continues to work well.

Very nice and well done Ray. Looking at your April, I guess you don't get April Showers bring May Flowers!

Enjoy,
Paul

Thanks Paul. There’s enough rain in most Aprils and if it is on the dry side there’s always the hosepipe. :D

It will be interesting to see how much rain falls in 2023. The difference in 2020-2022 is incredibly small.

What are your driest months over there?
Cheers,
Ray, Cheshire.

Hi Ray,
A quick snapshot of the Betel Summary scripts:
Monthly averages from Jan on left to Dec on right, and number of days with rain days each month

Code: Select all

Avg	36.2	41.7	61.3	85.0	* 70.1	87.0	75.1	78.2	74.3	* 85.0	60.4	49.7
 ϴ	12d	12.8d	13.5d	15.1d	13.9d	12d	11.4d	12.5d	12.1d	17.3d	15.3d	13.9d
Jan and Feb may a bit shy some years due to snow precipitation not all captured in Davis rain bucket. I do have accurate precipitation, including SWE (snow water equivalent) from manual CoCoRaHS reading each day.

Enjoy,
Paul

Paul, the number of rain days each month and monthly rain is remarkably consistent.

No indication there of drier seasons. Your garden must be green all year.
Cheers,
Ray, Cheshire.

Heres my feeble attempt from my excel spreadsheet. All values are average values back to yr 2000.

Nice spreadsheet Martyn. March is still the driest and you definitely get less rainfall than Cheshire!

Thanks Ray. I think being on the east of the pennines has a significant bearing on our rainfall totals.
