I'll be interested to see what wind speeds AndyKF650 gets..

Looks like I will smash my all time low pressure record. Could get down to 953mb here.

I wish I'd had a weather station in 1987 ;)

Met Office reporting it will go though explosive cyclogenesis dropping around 30hPa in 24 hours.

The centre of the low is expected to move across the southern Midlands. My lowest November pressure is 966.85hPa on 8 November 2010.
Cheers,
Ray, Cheshire.

The UKV model is showing a drop of 30mb in 12 hours for here.

Hi there

I would also be interested to see just what speeds we get. In the 1987 storm with no anemometer or weather station we were really blasted and the trees at the bottom of the garden blew over onto our house, the extreme southerly winds over very wet ground made tree roots unstable.

So far today we have had 11mm rainfall on top of really wet ground with a total of 123 mm rain this month which is approx 30mm over the October average. Current pressure 1002.9hPa with a low of 984hPa on Saturday, will see what happens over the next day or so.

I woke up this morning and seem 32.6mm rain since midnight in 7 hrs. pressure seems to have stabilised at 980.5hPa from 998.6 (11:50am yesterday) definitely an experience in driving through road floods this morning.

Looks like the center will pass right over me. 954 or 953 possible tomorrow morning.

The channel islands look set to be battered..

I find it highly disturbing that England & Wales (apparently not Scotland) are out of MeteoAlarm.
Though I see warnings for Scotland (which is definitely indicated as being UK), nothing on Ciarán for England and Wales.
Because of Brexit I assume.

Interesting: I do not see them (and apparently land warnings for the NL and N-FR neither)

[EDIT:] Aha... there is a difference between Now and Today :?

Haha.... yes. It's not that I wasn't convinced bad weather was coming.
Btw: it's bad weather, I don't think it is the worst storm ever. Just a storm.

Hans it is unlikely to be as bad as 1987 but the winds are predicted to be quite a lot worse than we normally see especially here in E Kent. Also the Channel Islands could see 90mph+, they have their own Met Service which has a red warning for wind I believe.

Yes, just learned that gusts op to 180 km/hr (100 mph) are expected.
That indeed is worse than I heard before. We'll see. Just too far west from me as well.
    Good luck...

I'm glad it's not affecting us up in the NW too much - we are having our roof replaced at the moment!
