Serial port problem

Good morning. I hope you can help me. I have Cumulus MX and Davis VantageVue. I don't know if it's a coincidence, but since I installed the latest version of CumulusMX, every two or three days I get the "error opoening serial port" message and it stops sending data. Even if you turn off the program and reopen it, the message still appears. It can only be fixed by restarting the computer and starting the program again, and then it works perfectly, until the next failure, which I don't know when it will be. (I have an Intel i5 laptop, with approx. 9 years of life, although it works well) dedicated solely and exclusively to Cumulus MX. There is only cumulus and Windows antivirus. Let's see if anyone can think of a solution. Thank you so much.

Hello Calrritos,

This is a long shot, but have a look in device manager in control panel and look at the comports and USB setting to make sure that power management save is turned off.

I hope this helps

Kind regards
Mike

And another place to look is the Com port settings of the device that Davis communicates through.
In device manager for the COM port, my settings are:
Bites per second: 19200 (this is set in the Davis console)
data bits: 8
Parity: None
Stop Bits: 1
Flow control: None
This appears to work OK for me

Good morning. Thank you very much for your help. It seems that it was the USB energy saving thing. Although it worked perfectly before and I had never touched that option, apparently it was put in some system update. I have disabled it and it has been working for two days without any problem. Thanks very much both for your help.
