From build 3044 the development baton passed to Mark Crossley. Mark has been responsible for all the Builds since. He has made the code available on GitHub. It is Mark's hope that others will join in this development, but at the very least he welcomes your ideas for future developments (see Cumulus MX Development suggestions).

CMX v4 Station Type Davis Weatherlink Cloud (VP2)

Post by PaulMy »

Hi Mark,
I am running one v4 as station type Davis Weatherlink Cloud (VP2) which gets data from Weatherlink.com and that has worked great. I just noticed in the Latest error message

Code: Select all

2024-04-20 17:45:37 - WARNING: WLL Backup battery voltage is low = 0.07V
This message also shows in the other CMX with station type WLL so need to get new batteries (WLL is also plugged in wall power).
I though selection station type Davis Weatherlink Cloud (VP2) would bypass the WLL and only get data from the cloud.

Enjoy,
Paul

I'm guessing the API from weatherlink gives device info of the wll

I would like to think it does anyhow.

Hi Simon,
I'm guessing the API from weatherlink gives device info of the wll

I would like to think it does anyhow.
I am glad CMX can pick up data from the WLL device but thought that was only from Davis' Weatherlink Live which I use, and Weatherlink Cloud (WLL/WLC) (I don't have the Weatherlink Console). With this Davis Weatherlink Live station type 11 CMX picks up the live data from the WLL device local IP address, and archive catch-up and other data once per minute from the Weatherlink.com API Key v2. Seeing low battery warning for both the CMX v3 and v4 using this WLL connection is expected. The WLL device has its own Weatherlink.com account and API Key v2 so can understand the battery status being uploaded to the cloud.

I also have been running CMX v3 and v4 with the Davis Weatherlink Cloud (VP2) station (type 20) and these get data from Weatherlink.com API Key v2 as well (from the cloud rather than local WLL device). Seeing the battery warning for both these Cloud stations that I thought didn't have any local WLL device association was a surprise. But perhaps this CMX Cloud station type 20 is picking up the WLL device battery status that is associated with the API Key v2 just as a warning to ensure the Cloud is getting updated data from the weather station that will then be downloaded by CMX.

My posting was just to try to understand the independence of the Cloud sourced data for CMX vs local device sourced. The Cloud sourced for CMX has two possibilities; one being from the Weatherlink Live device uploaded to Weatherlink.com, and the other from the new Weatherlink Console data uploaded to Weatherlink.com and which does not yet have any local data connection for local programs like CumulusMX. I have had a couple of users ask on how to get data from their Weatherlink Console into CMX. The Weatherlink Cloud (WLL/WLC) station type works for them.

Enjoy,
Paul

As surmised, the WLL health data comes from weatherlink.com, the WLL device itself does not provide any health/stats data on the local API.

What is puzzling though is why you are seeing the WLL health data when using the VP2 station Id. The API call specifically asks for the data from the station id you supply.

Paul, can you provide a Cloud VP2 log file with debug and data logging enabled please?

Note: actually, there is no real difference in the two station types Cloud WLL/WLC and Cloud VP2, they use the same code.

Hi Maek,-
Attached is the MXDiaggs files since the last restart and the last 2 (I couldn't add the in-between as zip was too large).

You have the wl.com station ID set to 100039, which looks like your WLL station? I think station ID 675 is your VP2?

Like I said, there is no difference between the two Davis Cloud station types, they now use the same code and are interchangeable, which station is picked up is entirely down to the station ID you use. (They started with different code bases, but ended up to all intents virtually identical, so I now only use one station type internally).

Hi Mark,
I missed your reply here but the other new WLL low battery thread reminded me to check, and I can confirm selecting the VP2 ID 675 has eliminated the low battery warning and latest error messages in CMX.

Enjoy,
Paul

Since I changed the station to ID 675 which should be my WL.com account being updated by WiFiLogger I am now getting

This started a couple of days ago when I changed the Davis ID for my "Cloud" WL.com account for both a CMX v3 and CMX v4 install as noted in my previous post. This WL.com account is updated by WiFiLogger and UV displays on WiFiLogger, and also on CMX that is also connected with WiFiLogger, and the WL.com.

It looks like the UV is no longer assigned to the correct TxID 1 as it had been. I haven't found anywhere in WL.comaccount (basic) where there is a device configuration setting like there is in my WL.com Pro account for the WLL.

Any thought on how to set the Tr ID to #1 for UV in CMX?

Enjoy,
Paul
