LOL! No problem uncle bob.

Here is my website. Oh, I have changed the template a little. I am currently running the sunny template.

One of the changes that I did is I created a side nav menu. Right now it just reflects the same as the top menu. But the reason I did it is because when I tried adding extra nav points across the top it pushed the template out of whack and did not look so hot.

Since I wanted to possibly add pages of my own and other links (like a link to other sites even my own ebook site) I created the side nav menu.

Also on what used to be the webcam page I went ahead and coverted that page into a slideshow page about a week and a half ago.

No, I do not have any problem with html. It is the fancier stuff that I do not have the software to modify such as js, flash, and such.

and of course my root site that it is piggy backed on

I was running the sunny template until yesterday. I like the blues more, but that, I suppose is a personal choice.
Nice pics on the slide show btw!

Edit: I'm about to undertake the quit smoking thing myself (I was checking out your books ;) ).

LOL! You have my full permission to rip off borrow anything that I did. :D

I have been tobacco/cigarette free now for over three years. I will go ahead and tell you how I did it. :) I switched to the ecig. I was able to quit cold turkey doing it that way and I had tried everything else over the years. My doctor is happy as my COPD is gone now. I can smell things again and taste things and go for walks without huffing and puffing. A world of difference. I really love gizmos so I guess that is one reason that this was able to succeed for me.

To me also I really like the look of blues. I will just have to tinker with it and see if I can make an additional menu area without borking up the template. If I can't, I can always go back to sunny. But I do like the wider look of blues and the color layout.

Hi,

I'm about to finish my configuration helper page and I missed some "expressions"

Then, I search expression meaning "Ready for job efforts"

In French we say "Se relever les manches"... will be "roll-up shirt sleeves"???
and "Mettre les mains a la pŝte" could be "Puts hands in the mud" (but little dirty!!!) ??

Thanks for your help,
Jacques

Hi Robert. It looks fine here (except temps being in degrees F :) ). What's the problem exactly?

I just checked it out in Firefox and it looks good there. Must be IE8 again.
(sigh) In IE8 all the info is pushed to the bottom of the page and it looks horrible.

I will try to find the fix for IE8.

Also with the trends page, the data is in C instead of F. I really need it in F as this is the US and that is what we go by. :)

Hi Robert,

I think I find a way to reproduce your problem :
You're probably running IE8 in compatibility mode (see picture)
err.jpg
I allways check my template with:

- IE 8 (native mode) on XP Sp3
- IE 9 (native mode) on Win7
- FF 8 on Win7
- Safari on iPad

I have your problem either with IE8 or IE9, both on compatibility mode!

Hope I've solved your problem! :ugeek:

Hi JacquesD,

Unchecking compatibilty mode made it look like it was supposed to. However when I have time in a few days I will take a harder look and try to find a way without having to do that. Because when I did that and bouced back to my main site that my weather site is piggybacked on the wordpress section of my main site looked like poo. LOL! There has got to be a better way. :) But Thank You for the temporary fix.

Sorry Uncle Bob but they have been saying that in the US since the 1960's. It ain't happening. lolololol

Hi Robert,

It's not normal to run in compatibility mode... rarely we have to switch to that mode!

This template is a CSS Template and we have often to do some "CSS trickeries" to accomodate IE, so often that into css standard they have planed it with one of them :

conditional comment for IE
<!--[if IE]>
According to the conditional comment this is IE<br />
<![endif]-->
<!--[if IE 6]>
According to the conditional comment this is IE 6<br />
<![endif]-->
<!--[if IE 7]>
According to the conditional comment this is IE 7<br />
<![endif]-->
<!--[if IE 8]>
According to the conditional comment this is IE 8<br />
<![endif]-->
<!--[if IE 9]>
According to the conditional comment this is IE 9<br />
<![endif]-->
<!--[if gte IE 8]>
According to the conditional comment this is IE 8 or higher<br />
<![endif]-->
<!--[if lt IE 9]>
According to the conditional comment this is IE lower than 9<br />
<![endif]-->
<!--[if lte IE 7]>
According to the conditional comment this is IE lower or equal to 7<br />
<![endif]-->
<!--[if gt IE 6]>
According to the conditional comment this is IE greater than 6<br />
<![endif]-->
<!--[if !IE]> -->
According to the conditional comment this is not IE<br />
<!-- <![endif]-->

It exist some others for other browsers, but nothing to detect if IE is in compatibility mode.
Then I think is better way to check why wordpress template is doing that. There is a lot of ressources for wordpress where you can check.

Then, another good challenge for you!

It would make things so much easier if IE would get its act together and stop doing things their own way instead of mainstream like everyone else. :)

But if I find a fix that looks good both ways I will post it here. I was hoping that it was just a misplaced div tag but I do not think that is it this time. (sigh)
