Cannot get SS gauges to work

Post by dmac »

I did manage to get previous version to work but after a change to HP proliant server 6m ago, it reverted back to native gauges. I downloaded latest version to appropriate directories etc and no joy. My browser IE 10 will show other SS gauges on others sites just fine. I have even messed up the page width on my site (far too wide)

Any ideas?

They look like they are working fine now - I guess you fixed something?

IE 10 on windows 8

I tried yours with Chrome and they work fine (do you have a stale browser cache?), I do not have IE10, but the IE9 console produces this warning...
"virginmedia.com is on the Internet Explorer 9 Compatibility View List"
Which means IE is forced into a non-HTML5 compatibility mode. Switching it manually to IE9 native mode makes your gauge page work fine.

Thanks to replies and wonderful gauges. Problem fixed. My browsers (wife's pc as well) were set on IE 10 compatibility mode and when I changed it to IE 10 mode gauges display normally.

Thanks

Not quite right. Whenever I upload my website gauges on to IE 10, it changes the browser view from the default of IE 10 to IE 10 compatibility view. If I then change back to default of IE 10 the gauges display correctly otherwise just a grey screen with some unit selection options.

I have to do this each time I reload the website on the browser. Other (see above) sites with same SS gauges work fine and do not alter the compatibility settings . This is on both computers.

Anyone any ideas?

It is because Microsoft have added virginmedia.com to the list of sites that require comparability mode to work correctly. This list gets updated periodically via Windows Update. You can try fixing it by seeing if you can remove virgin media.com from the compatibility list in IE settings- if you can find it.

I'm on my Android tablet at the mo so can't have a look.

Of course this will not fix the problem for other visitors to your site using IE. Some research on how to over ride the IE settings from your page is required - I think MSDN has something on this...
