CMX unresponsive

From build 3044 the development baton passed to Mark Crossley. Mark has been responsible for all the Builds since. He has made the code available on GitHub. It is Mark's hope that others will join in this development, but at the very least he welcomes your ideas for future developments (see Cumulus MX Development suggestions).

CMX unresponsive

Post by Mapantz »

My website went down and after emailing the host, they told me that it's server maintenance. I didn't get any correspondence telling me this happened.

Anyway, I cannot connect to CMX from my web browser since my site went down. It's dead and nothing is being logged.
No CPU is being used, so it hasn't locked up.

I have the same problem, who is your host company ?
It isn't Host Presto by any chance ?
Cumulus MX is working ok, however, Cumulus MX
cannot upload to the web server..
I did not receive any warning of this, from the company.

Yep.
Apologies if you haven't received any email. We've created an announcement for all clients although it looks like your account might have been excluded from the list.
I was told that services would be down for 10 minutes. It was in fact, 1 hour and 28 minutes.

Hostpresto really are crap.

Mine is obviously back up and running again.

When I sent a web ticket asking why my service was down, I got a blunt reply saying there was an announcement in the client area.

I said that I don't go there several times a day just to find out if server maintenance is going to take place..

Anyway, CMX simply died on me due to the server going offline. I had to force close it. It stopped logging any information and didn't do anything.

Went offline again for ten minutes. CMX died again..

There's obviously a problem with it on the latest version, as it's never done that before.

Code: Select all

2024-01-10 21:59:38.990 RealtimePHP[6]: General error uploading to realtime.xml - Exception Type: System.InvalidOperationException
Message: There were not enough free threads in the ThreadPool to complete the operation.

2024-01-10 21:59:38.990 RealtimePHP[6]]: General Error uploading to realtime.xml - There were not enough free threads in the ThreadPool to complete the operation.
That's the very last thing it logs before it becomes unresponsive.

It is.

But I have never had CMX die on me when my website has gone down for whatever reason, and it's happened a lot (my host going down)

It's the first time this has happened, and I only upgraded to the latest version yesterday.

It doesn't crash per se, you can't access the dashboard and it stops doing all tasks, including logging. CPU usage is 0. I have to shut it down and restart it.

I changed from HostPresto in August to tsoHost and have had no issues with server drop outs at all.

I had the same issue here, uploads to MySQL stopped at 20:14 and all logging on CMX stopped at 20:33.
I'm also using php uploads. Only moved to Host Presto in December as my last host was so expensive.

My website went down at 18:17GMT yesterday and I spotted it around 21:00. I raised a ticket with HostPresto which was answered inside 15 mins.

They said the servers were down for upgrading and would be back online once completed. Service resumed around 22:15.

They did say there was a notice in the Client Area which I eventually found. If my site goes down again that’s the first place I’ll check.

I’m running Cumulus 1 so not related to CMX. I find HostPresto an excellent company. Better to do maintenance with downtime limited to a few hours than not bother and potentially offline for far longer.
Cheers,
Ray, Cheshire.

I use uptimerobot as notification if my web server is down. The free version checks every 5 minutes that the site is contactable.
