RPI releases - unable to create image

From build 3044 the development baton passed to Mark Crossley. Mark has been responsible for all the Builds since. He has made the code available on GitHub. It is Mark's hope that others will join in this development, but at the very least he welcomes your ideas for future developments (see Cumulus MX Development suggestions).

RPI releases - unable to create image

Post by Bigfish_oz »

Hi.

I have downloaded both of these:

~ Download 32 bit image: Raspberry Pi Image for Cumulus MX 3.28.0 x32
~ Download 64 bit image: Raspberry Pi Image for Cumulus MX 3.28.0 x64

from the Software page on the Wiki.

When attempting to write the images to SDcard direct from the ZIP I get an "error extracting ZIP" message.

I even tried extracting them into a folder (as a test only) but got the same error message.

This using Raspberry Pi Imager on Windows 10, Raspberry Pi 4 running Debian 12 Bookworm and a X86 (64 bit) running Debian 12 Bookworm.

Downloading the Windows version ( ~ Download Cumulus MX v3.28.3 build 3280, 01-February-2024 ) has no such issues and installs without any issues.

Note that I run PeaZip (GUI) on the x86 systems and the "standard" zip utility on the RasPI.

Can anyone suggest the cause of this problem and any solution?

Cheers!

It is not a window version, this works for all OS (Windows, MacOs, Linux).

The Raspberry Pi images are full images of the Raspberry OS (Bullseye) and includes the above mentioned CumulusMx package, and will totally overwrite the SDcard.

I have just tried to download this to create a Raspberry Pi image. I tried both the 32 and 64-bit versions.
I'm pretty sure the zipfiles are corrupt. The Raspberry Pi Imager software reports "Error extracting archive: ZIP decompression failed (-5)"

I then downloaded it to a Ubuntu desktop and tried to unzip it, and this gave this response:

Code: Select all

 unzip rpi-CumulusMX-lite-3.28.0_X64.zip
Archive: rpi-CumulusMX-lite-3.28.0_X64.zip
End-of-central-directory signature not found. Either this file is not
a zipfile, or it constitutes one disk of a multi-part archive. In the
latter case the central directory and zipfile comment will be found on
the last disk(s) of this archive.
unzip: cannot find zipfile directory in one of rpi-CumulusMX-lite-3.28.0_X64.zip or
rpi-CumulusMX-lite-3.28.0_X64.zip.zip, and cannot find rpi-CumulusMX-lite-3.28.0_X64.zip.ZIP, period.
The md5sum of the 64bit file is 2e71ec4d12ffb622d8dd0c6bfdf88fb1. This is the same for the download I did on Windows and the download on Ubuntu so the file wasn't corrupted in download

Thanks for the reply, but I suspect we are on different wavelengths.

My issue I have is being unable to write an image from any of the downloaded Raspi Images due an error. The same error occurs on Raspi, X64Debian 12 and Windows.

The "Windows" version I referred to appears to be just that and CumulusMX is started using CumulusMX.exe

Thanks, dazza1223. That's now working. :D

I tested the 64bit version.
