Console/data logger

From build 3044 the development baton passed to Mark Crossley. Mark has been responsible for all the Builds since. He has made the code available on GitHub. It is Mark's hope that others will join in this development, but at the very least he welcomes your ideas for future developments (see Cumulus MX Development suggestions).

Console/data logger

Post by Altocumulus »

I thought - and hoped - the data logger on the Davis stations would store data when there was a battery backup installed. It is, and fresh batteries.

We had a power outage at 0600, returning at 1100, Otto struck.

The graphs, for wind, on MX shows a gust of 55 kt this morning at 0600, then a straight line to 1100 - suggesting a break in storing?
Although I don't expect the normal fine detail, I expected to see data showing between 0600-1100.

Then onto the today/tomorrow page, highest gust shown is 36 kt.

OK - there's no dayfile for yesterday whilst the power was off at the 0900 compile this morning - is that why the data stream isn't updated? MX downloaded data from the logger starting at 0% - so a full data drop.

Am I expecting too much?

Hi,
Your datalogger should and probably has the ongoing data. Not sure what happened to CMX when power failed, but yours is a typical instance were you can stop CMX, copy all the files from a previous good backup - i.e. CumulusMX\backup\daily\backupwithpreviousdayroller and paste into your \CumulusMX\data folder over top the existing. Start CMX and it should catch-up data from data logger from that last backup to current.

As always, make a copy of your existing working CumulusMX folder just in case!

Enjoy,
Paul

We have relatively frequent power outages where we live; it's quite rural, with a lot of trees and frequent large winds. That said, we have an ethernet data logger installed on our Davis Vantage Pro 2, and it does record sensors during a power outage as long as the batteries are up to snuff. I'm not sure what the update interval is, but it is noticeably longer than normal. Maybe something like every 5 or so minutes.
