New site - England

Post by legio_noctis »

I set up a site about a month ago for a weather station in Manuden, near Bishop's Stortford in England.

http://www.gardiners.info/

I'd love any suggestions or comments. (I'm aware that there are a few problems with some of the records; I'm trying to sort that out atm).

Also, if anyone wants the template code, I will be happy to make it available.

Looks ok, although I will say I'm not a fan of black backgrounds - too much contrast...

Sorry, no banner - weather station out of action. Hoping to be up and running with a new home-made one soon.

Like the site layout and how the header merges to the rest of the page.

Most don't like dark backgrounds (as you have heard) but it does look unique.

Curious about your reported wind speed for Yesterday... 116.0 mph ??

You having a hurricane over there??

Looks great to me. I love black/dark backgrounds, as anyone who has tried C2 will have spotted.

Design is so subjective. Black can be very stark but I think it works really well on this site, and it's a nice fresh design too.
I have a black border which was my compromise. LOL

Aaargh! I don't know why it keeps doing that. I'll look into it.

Maybe upgrading to 1.8.9 will help...

Not only high winds, but it must be one of those freak cold spots too -

Outside
-13.3 °C

And this was at 15:15pm on a warm sunny afternoon - brrrrrr !

Oh and for the record, I like black / dark backgrounds too :)

Edit: also noticed the rainfall
Current rate
1159.90 in/hr
Last hour
96.71 in/hr

Either you have some seriously strange weather going on in that part of the UK or there is some data screwed up somewhere
Regards

Thanks.

I've updated to the 1.8.9 beta now (and at the moment am keeping the old data separate from it). Hopefully we won't be hit by a tornado this time.

To be honest, the inflated data will be coming from your station -- very unlikely to be Cumulus.

How far is the station from the transmitter? -- if you are approaching your limit it could cause bad data to be sent; as could so many other things :!:

It's about 30m away: is this OK? Is there anything else I can do to try and suppress bad data?

IMO 30m may be getting near the limit depending on how many walls etc. the signal has to go through, and what they are made of. I had to move my console to a position where there was line of sight through a window. Our house has reinforced concrete walls - I presume the reinforcing iron bars block the signal. I haven't measured the distance (perhaps I should) but I think it is a bit less than 30m. You can set a variable in Cumulus to zap large, short data glitches.
